Ouverture

Dear friends,

This March, it is my pleasure to introduce you to the very first issue of La Colonne, the Philharmonie’s digital magazine. What better moment than spring – a time when nature blossoms and grows, and when the musical season reaches its peak – to launch a new project and to offer you a new way to deepen your relationship with the Philharmonie?

The Magazine has been designed as a collection of stories to bring you closer to our music, our musicians, and our people. In written, video or audio form, it reveals aspects of the Philharmonie and its resident orchestra, the Luxembourg Philharmonic, which you may not have explored before – whether that’s the ins and outs of concert planning, a never-before-seen artefact from the archive room, an artist revisiting cherished memories, or a team member sharing personal recommendations. Each issue is meant to be a companion for three to four months of the season.

«Being at a crossroads […] perfectly captures the spirit of the musical season at hand.»

As you start diving into this inaugural issue, consider its headline: «Crossroads». Being at a crossroads – both literally and figuratively – perfectly captures the spirit of the musical season at hand. Since the start of the season and increasingly in the months that lie ahead, various cultures and art forms meet, genre-defying performances shake up our stages, and important milestones are celebrated. So, look out for the four articles we have prepared around those journeys.

And by all means, don’t stop there! Further into the Magazine, you will find a podcast introduction to an iconic symphony, a witty flash interview, and a fun quiz about your favourite composers, among other highlights.

All that remains is for me to wish you an enjoyable read. And don’t forget: the Magazine is here to accompany you until the summer, and will be there to welcome you back come September!
